Artemis Fowl and the artic incident

Artemis Fowl and the Artic Incident by Eoin Colfer

When i first picked up this book I wasn't aware that it was book 2. But that didn't matter. This book was amazing. I didn't even realise it was a sequel until references were made.

It follows the story of Artemis Fowl (now 13) and his plan now to save his father. His father, as we learn in the epilogue, had gone missing. The Fowl's were originally a criminal family, and suddenly, Artemis Fowl the First decided that they would go legal. He bought out a Cola company, and decided to ship it out to Russia. The Mafia didn't take lightly to Mr. Fowl tresspassing on its territory, so they blew up the boat carrying 250,000 cans of cola. Let's just say that's a big explosion. Mr. Fowl has now been missing for two years, but Artemis hasn't given up hope on his father. On receipt of a ransom note for his father, Artemis needs a genius plan to get him back. But can he really hold up against the Russian Mafia? He needed help...

Meanwhile, underground, Holly Short is still hurt from her kidnapping on the previous year. She's now been put on traffic watch, because of all the ransom money she had lost the LEP. She had a right mind to go up there and strangle Artemis until he coughed up the money. But, he had won fair and square, and the Book, the Fairy Bible, said that they couldn't take it back. On a routine patrol, a group of goblins was found to be smuggling human batteries into the fairy haven. Goblins are stupid. I mean, really stupid. There is no way that they could have smuggled those batteries in. Their must be someone else behind that. But who? Now the fairies need the help of a human...

This book has to be my favourite Artemis book. It's more action packed than the first, and it was so funny in places I choked on my apple juice.

My rating? 5 stars.
