Colour blending

This is a www.photokicho.tk tutorial.

In this tutorial you will learn how to blend colours into a image using the blending method. If you do not know how to blend, read out simple blending tutorial.

Step 1

Select your image. I will be using this one.

Okay, first thing you do is dupicate the layer (Layer>Duplicate Layer) a couple of times. You make as many layers as the number of colours you want in your final image. Im going to have three colours, so I need three duplicates of the same layer. If you saved the image as a jpeg, the layer will be locked, so you would want to make the number of layers EXCLUDE the background layer.

Call the layers the colours you would use. Purple, Blue, Pink are mine. Delete the backround layer. You should now have 3 layers.

The colour that you want the most of you put on the bottom, and the least on the top.

Step 2

Select the first layer. Go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation, or hit Ctrl+U. Tick the colorize box, and adjust the colour so that it will be the first colour of your choice. The settings I used were:

Hue: 225, Saturation: 40, Lightness: +44

For soft blending like this, a lighter colour would be more preferable. Hit Ok. This is what I got.

Step 3

Press the eye next to the layer to hide it . Now you should be able to see the next layer.

Repeat step 2, only this time use different colours.

Step 4

Repeat step 3 as many times as you want, depending on how many layers you have.

The settings I used for the pink layer were:

Hue: 331, Saturation: 68, Lightness: +57

The settings I used for the purple layer were:

Hue: 304, Saturation: 36, Lightness: +50

This is what I got.

Okay, now hit the layer visibilty again so that the eye appears , and make all the layers visible.

Step 5

Select the lasso tool and put the feather to 15px.

Start drawing random circluar shapes on the first layer and pressing delete. Leave patches of the original colour. Think about lighting, and what colours you want to remain the same, etc. Make sure your top layer is selected.

The more times you hit delete, the wider the area that is deleted becomes.

This is what I got after deleting the first layer

Now, select the next layer down and start deleting bits and pieces of it like above. You shouldn't touch the bottom layer.

After cutting out some of the second layer, this is what I got.

I put the purple on the base because it is the colour that blends the best between blue and pink. That's it! Add whatever little bits you want now to spuce up the image. I just highlighted the words :P
