At this present moment, Full Metal Alchemist is my favourite anime. Seriously. Only 51 episodes long, but I loved every moment of it.

FMA is centered around the story of two young boys, the Elric Brothers, on a quest to recover what they have lost. Alchemy follows the rule of Equivilant Trade: In order to gain something, you must pay something of equal value. Not realising the two brothers tried to transmute their mother who had died of illness, and in the process, Edward lost his leg and Alphonse lost his whole body, before Al could completely die, Edward, at the cost of his arm, transmuted Al's soul onto a suit of armour. So now, the brothers search for the Legendary Philosophers Stone, the only thing that they think will be able to save their bodies, because whoever is in posession of the Philosopher's Stone, is not subject to the Law of Equivalent Trade.

With the help of a certain Colonel Roy Mustang, Edward was able to obtain the title of National Alchemist, a Army role with heaps of money bonuses - used so that they can further their goals. But making the stone is a lot harder, and is so much more than they had prepared...

I loved this anime - the music was spectacular, the art was pretty, the storyline was excellent. There was parts that moved you to tears, and others that had you on the floor rolling with laughter. I loved it so much... I couldn't even stop watching it! It's extremely addictive!
