Outlining

In this tutorial, you will learn how to outline your sketches using Photoshop (this won't work with elements) and the Pen tool

step 1.

Select your image. I will be working with this one - the image is grossly magnified.

Select the pen tool , and place points, sort of around your line. It's like out lining your outline. If you need to move a point, you can just hold Ctrl to move a point. Finally, join the dots together. This is what you should get.

This is what it looks like before I joined the dots.

This is what it looked like after.

Now, change the pen tool into this and now, by adjusting the angles around the points, curve your line up. It's like this.

This is what it should sorta look like

Now, on your layers pallet, click on Paths tab, making sure your outline shape is selected as the layer.

At the bottom of your pallet, click on the shape that says "load as selection"

Now, using a big brush or the paint bucket, create a new layer (layer>new layer or Shift+Ctrl+N), paint over the outline in the colour of your choice. All you need to do now is deselect, and work on the next line. It should look exactly like below.
