Ptolemy's Gate

Ptolemy's Gate , by Jonathan Stroud

This is the third volume in the Bartimaeus Trilogy, and I like it much more than the second, and maybe even more of the first. The fates of Bartimaeus, Kitty and Nathaniel have been finally intertwined one last time.

Nathaniel is now a rising star in the Ministry. He's a magician, and he's powerful. He's also 17 so he has a tendency to fall in love. He wishes for things that are beyond him, and he also acts like a pain in the behind. But this volume has a lot on his redemption. The footnotes in the novel left by Bartimaeus are as funny, and witty as ever. He provides a sarcastic point of view to tell the story in, but during this novel Bartimaeus is in a lot of pain. Kitty has been in hiding for three years, ever since she saved Nathaniel's life. She's regretting it though. The things that he is doing as the Information Minister has caused a lot of useless deaths.

These three now want to achieve the same thing, but in the face of evil, will they work together, with so much hate between them?

This book is a fantastic read by Jonathan Stroud. However, me being a girl and a major Nathaniel supporter, plus liking Bartimaeus very much, the ending is satisfying, I know, but it left me screaming (at 3 am in the morning, because I couldn't put the book down) "WHY??? WHY??? NOOOO!"

My rating? 4.5 stars.
