A series of unfortunate events: book the 12th, the penultimate peril
A Series of Unfortunate Events: book the 12th, the Penultimate Peril , by Lemony Snicket
This is the next-to-last book in the 13 book series of Unfortunate Events (a movie was made about the first three). This novel is suprisingly thick, and for some strange reason, I seemed to lose interest in it. It didn't hold me as captive as some of the other books written in this series. Not much seemed to happen in a lot of pages, and then a lot happened in not many pages. For some strange reason, the ideas didn't seem to connect as well, and coincidences seemed to connect too well, and many things happened in that book that really wasn't the way I thought things would turn out. You could say I was disappointed, as their wasn't that many funny bits, as compared to Mr. Snicket's other works. I find it very good that because he is using a pen-name, he can use his alias and incorporate him into the story. It gives a feeling of involvement from the author.
It was a good read, but it definately wasn't a favourite in the series.
My rating? 3.5 stars.
